Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Behavior Specialist – Level 2 to manage an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) caseload of adult clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities within our Specialty Care Center. In this clinical role, you will develop, implement, and evaluate behavior support plans while providing direct participant services and training frontline staff.
Reporting to the Behavioral Support Services Director, you will collaborate with professionals across the Specialty Care Center as well as residential, vocational, and recreational programs to ensure coordinated, person-centered support. This role offers an opportunity to combine clinical expertise with meaningful impact in a multidisciplinary environment.

The Role
  • Manage an ABA caseload of adult participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized behavior support plans
  • Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate treatment plans using evidence-based ABA practices
  • Provide direct behavior support sessions focused on increasing adaptive skills and reducing maladaptive behaviors
  • Maintain treatment integrity through clinical audits, data review, and outcome monitoring
  • Maintain accurate participant records including treatment notes, progress reports, consent forms, and clinical documentation
  • Meet weekly billable expectations of approximately 70% productivity (~28 billable hours per week)
  • Maintain 80% or higher utilization expectations of approved billing codes
  • Complete weekly reporting and maintain required clinical charts, behavior plans, billing records, and training materials
  • Maintain current IMPACT enrollment and ensure compliance with Illinois Department of Human Services standards
  • Train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on behavior plan implementation, documentation, and data collection procedures
  • Participate in Behavior Support Committee and Human Rights Committee meetings and presentations
  • Collaborate with practitioners, care providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated participant care
  • Communicate with participants and families regarding treatment plans, progress, and person-centered goals
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, case consultations, didactic learning, and ongoing professional development
  • Stay current on emerging research, literature, and best practices in ABA and behavioral health
  • Travel locally (approximately 10%) for community partnerships, observations, and program needs
  • Maintain flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends based on participant and program needs

Qualifications
  • Approval from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board to sit for the BCBA or BCaBA examination OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in a human services related field with:
      • Minimum one year of directly related experience in behavioral or therapeutic support roles
      • At least 1,500 hours of coursework, training, and/or supervised professional experience in applied behavior analysis or behavior-based therapy models
  • Currently enrolled in IMPACT or ability to become successfully enrolled
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for local travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for participant interaction, clinical documentation, and team collaboration
  • Knowledge of evidence-based ABA treatment modalities, functional behavior assessment, and person-centered planning
  • Understanding of communication support strategies and behavior as communication for individuals with complex needs
  • Ability to provide culturally appropriate, individualized treatment approaches
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with computers, data systems, and electronic health records
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working in healthcare or multidisciplinary clinical settings preferred
  • Training in trauma-informed care and crisis prevention preferred

Compensation
The annual salary for this role is $50,000 - 55,000 per year.
