Summary

 

We're looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to play a key role in securing and maintaining adequate inventory for all departments while ensuring cost-effective operations. This position involves managing supply chains, supervising staff and participants, and overseeing all aspects of purchasing, inventory control, and distribution operations that support our mission-driven community. The successful candidate will combine strategic procurement expertise with compliance oversight and cross-departmental leadership to optimize operational efficiency across all Lambs Farm facilities.

 

The Role

 

  • Maintain all supply requirements for paper, janitorial, and office materials in the most cost-efficient manner while conducting accurate inventory records across all departments.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, evaluate vendor performance metrics, and maintain preferred supplier relationships to ensure quality standards and competitive pricing.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track stock levels, generate automated reorder reports, maintain real-time inventory visibility across multiple locations, and monitor all ordering channels for accurate and timely fulfillment.
  • Forecast and purchase all packaging components for catalog production and manage catalog season shipments.
  • Assist all departments with the purchase of specific equipment and materials as needed.
  • Supervise two participants and one shipping clerk in the timely and efficient distribution of supplies, including training oversight and providing mentorship and skill development opportunities for participants with developmental disabilities.
  • Distribute supplies throughout the campus by helping participants pull and fulfill orders, checking for accuracy, and assisting with deliveries.
  • Invoice all materials to outlets accurately and promptly while maintaining appropriate records of all purchases for Accounts Payable and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with state and federal regulations and maintain documentation for annual compliance audits.
  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives to streamline procurement processes and improve operational efficiency across all Lambs Farm facilities.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in inventory control, purchasing, and shipping.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and vendor relationship management preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal compliance requirements for procurement operations preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google suite of software, including accurate typing, navigating websites, entering and recalling data, using word processors and spreadsheet software, managing emails, and familiarity with digital communication etiquette and techniques.
  • Experience with inventory management software, automated reporting systems, and purchasing software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred).
  • Valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Physically capable of performing tasks that require bending, lifting, and walking, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds to manage mobility aids and assist participants.
  • Proficiency in writing, speaking, and understanding English.
