Join Our Mission at Lambs Farm

At Lambs Farm, we've spent over six decades helping people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives through meaningful work opportunities in our farmyard, restaurants, stores, and community programs. We're a vibrant community that serves as both home to our residents and a place where visitors grow through enriching experiences that create lasting connections.

As we continue expanding our impact and modernizing our operations through strategic technology initiatives, we're seeking a dedicated Payroll & Benefits Specialist to ensure our exceptional team receives the accurate, timely compensation and comprehensive benefits support they deserve. This role represents a unique opportunity to blend technical expertise with compassionate service, directly supporting the people who make our mission possible every day.

About This Opportunity

This full-time position serves as the backbone of our HR operations, combining hands-on payroll processing with comprehensive benefits administration for our diverse, mission-driven workforce. You'll work closely with our Associate Director of HR to ensure seamless payroll operations using iSolved HCM while managing benefits through Employee Navigator, all while providing the exceptional employee service that reflects our organizational values. Based in our Libertyville, IL, location with no travel requirements, this role offers the stability of focused technical work with the satisfaction of direct employee impact.

What you'll accomplish:

  • Lead end-to-end payroll operations for our diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy across multiple pay classifications, including grant-funded positions with specialized reporting requirements
  • Build seamless benefits administration processes that support employees through life changes, open enrollment periods, and complex benefits decisions with compassion and expertise
  • Develop strong vendor partnerships as the primary liaison for payroll and benefits systems, ensuring optimal service delivery and swift issue resolution
  • Create streamlined documentation and training materials that empower employees to understand and maximize their compensation and benefits packages
  • Drive process improvements during our ongoing digital transformation, maintaining data integrity across integrated cloud-based platforms while supporting legacy system transitions

What you bring to this role:

You combine 2-3 years of hands-on payroll and benefits experience with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates your technical competence. Your expertise with modern HRIS platforms, ideally iSolved HCM and Employee Navigator, positions you to hit the ground running, while your solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations ensures compliance excellence.

Beyond technical skills, you bring exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities that thrive in high-volume, time-sensitive environments. Your excellent communication skills enable you to translate complex payroll and benefits information into clear, accessible guidance for employees at all levels. Most importantly, you demonstrate the discretion, professionalism, and genuine compassion essential for handling confidential information while supporting our mission-driven culture with cultural sensitivity and respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

What We Offer

  • Work Environment: Professional office setting in Libertyville with extensive computer-based work, flexible scheduling during peak periods like payroll cycles and benefits enrollment, and the opportunity to work within a supportive, mission-driven organization that values both technical excellence and human connection
  • Growth and Impact: Direct influence on employee satisfaction through exceptional HR service delivery, opportunities to lead process improvements during our digital transformation initiatives, and the chance to build expertise across multiple integrated technology platforms while supporting organizational growth through scalable systems
  • Our Values in Action: Daily opportunities to embody dignity, empowerment, and inclusion through every employee interaction, work alongside colleagues who share your commitment to meaningful service, and contribute to a culture where technical precision meets genuine compassion in support of people with developmental disabilities and the broader Lambs Farm community
