Summary
We are seeking a Bakery Assistant responsible for producing high-quality specialty foods, including confectionery/chocolate products, sauces, spreads, and baked goods. This role involves providing training and supervision to adults with developmental disabilities and ensuring the smooth operation of the production process. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in food production and a passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
The Role
- Follow recipes and monitor production processes to ensure consistent, high-quality products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in production areas
- Plan and follow the daily production schedule in coordination with the manager
- Organize and manage inventory of raw and finished products, coordinating with the manager for ordering supplies
- Maintain records and paperwork for the Country Store
- Assist in developing new products for the Bakery and Country Store
- Provide assistance in the Country Store retail area as needed
- Ensure a safe work environment for staff and participants
- Train and supervise adults with developmental disabilities
- Support special events as needed
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in food production, chocolate tempering, or bakery
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment
- Passion for working with and supporting adults with developmental disabilities
- Physically capable of performing tasks that require bending, lifting, and walking, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds to manage mobility aids and assist participants
- Proficiency in writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including accurate typing, navigating websites, entering and recalling data, using word processors and spreadsheet software, managing emails, and familiarity with digital communication etiquette and techniques
